    George & Tom Finnegan

George, Kathleen,

Kim & Tom Finnegan

along with Kim & Tom's children

Logan, Cole, Michaela & B-Dog

George & Tom, along with their spouses, own 320 acres of tillable land, pasture and wildlife habitat.  The Finnegan’s also run a growing registered Black Angus cow/calf operation.  George & Kathleen have lived on the family farm for 40 years and Tom & Kim have lived just down the road on their farm for 13 years. George is retired from Hormel and Tom works for Kestner Electric.

Throughout the years, George & Tom have applied several conservation practices into their operations, such as; wildlife habitat, terraces, buffers, nutrient management, rotational grazing, and forestry improvement & establishment.  Four years ago, the Finnegan’s began establishing the wildlife area (below) on Tom & Kim’s acreage and have created an excellent piece of wildlife habitat.  The Finnegan’s are family farmers with a focus on conserving the land for future generation.

The Finnegan’s will be honored at the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual convention in December in Rochester, MN.

The Mower SWCD congratulates the Finnegan’s for being selected Mower County’s 2007 Outstanding Conservationists and commends them for their work done in conservation.
